Aug.2022 Workshop at École Futamatagawa

少し前になりますが、
初めてお邪魔するお教室
（エコールふたまたがわ、関清佳先生）にて
2日間のコンテンポラリーのワークショップを
担当いたしました。

事前に小学校6年生を数人参加させたいが大丈夫か？
と先生からご相談を受けましたが、全く心配ありませんでした！

普段から度々コンテンポラリークラスを取り入れていらっしゃるとの事…
あえて難易度高めの設定をして、様子を見つつ、
もし難しすぎるのであれば変えていこうと考えていましたが、
最終的には12歳から20歳くらいの生徒さん達全員が
同じレベルの動きを学びました。

ジュニア、シニアの生徒さん達の個性や表現力には、心底感心！

ダンス以外にも演劇のクラスを取り入れられている。
異なる要素がアーティストとしてのアプローチに
良い影響がある事実が確実に感じられます。

若く捉えられがちな12-13歳の
アーティストとしての才能も突出していました。
身体的なパワーは足りない時があっても、
誰よりも素晴らしい解釈をしたり
…驚かされました。

若い子達の可能性と吸収力の無限さが素晴らしい！！

生徒さん達の理解力の幅広さにも脱帽。
私がこの歳でやっと修得している分野の話に
「うんうん」と着いてくる…。
多分野からの刺激を経験しているか否かの違いと、
それゆえの柔軟性と影響力を見た気がしました

正直なところ、この若さでそれだけの経験をしている
今の生徒さん達がうらやましい！！

昔ながらの「バレエ教室」に違う風が吹き始めていると感じられ、
広い視野を持たれている素敵な先生方や
お教室があるのだな～と…素直に嬉しいです

若いダンサーの卵さん達に、多くの異なる経験をしてほしい。

若いダンサーさん達に、多くの異なるチャンスを提供してほしい。

A little while ago,
I had the honor to give
2 days contemporary workshop
at École Futamatagawa, by Ms. Kiyoka Seki.

Besides classical technic classes,
the school offers contemporary classes.
Which is not necessarily common
at ballet schools in Japan.

Ms.Seki consulted me in advance
that she would like to give an opportunity
for several elementary school students
to participate the workshop.
She was concerned if they will be too young..

The result, there were no worries at all!!
They were all amazing!!

I intentionally set the level high.
Planned to see the situation, how it goes.
( Changing, if it was too difficult.)
Ultimately, all students between the ages of 12 and 20
learned the same level of combinations.

I was deeply impressed by
the individuality and expressiveness
of the junior and senior students!!

In this school, in addition to dance,
drama classes are also provided.
Various Elements in the education phase for young artists are essential.
I could definitely feel the positive impacts
of drama classes by their artistry.

In regards to artistic expression
12-13-year-olds tend to be perceived as relatively young in Japan,
However, their talent as an artist was outstanding.
Even when their physical power was slightly less than senior students,
they gave absolutely impressive interpretations.
… I was fascinated by them.

The infinite potential of young children are amazing! !

Additionally, hats off to the wide range of understanding of the students.
Talking about the field I am finally understanding at my age,
students nodded and kept up with it.

I felt the flexibility and influence of 
the difference between whether or not
you are experiencing stimulation from multiple fields.

To be honest, I envy the current students!!
I wish I had their experiences in my youth.

I feel that a new wind is beginning to blow
in the traditional “ballet school” in Japan.

There are definitely wonderful teachers
who have a broad perspective,
I was extremely happy to observe this change …

Young dancers need to have various experiences.

 Young dancers need to be provided with those opportunities.
